TY THE TEACHER

Project Coordinator, Access the Experience & The Rock Stars of Education

Ms. Ty has over 15 years of educational experience. A graduate of Bowie State University, Ms. Ty has been teaching music for 8 years. Along with teaching music, she also sponsors the dance and drama program at her school. Ms. Ty has been responsible for inviting different media such as The Gazette and Educational Insight, who have written stories about the school. Ms. Ty continues to excel. For example, in 2005, Ms Ty received a Masters in Education Management from Strayer University and is currently preparing for the pursuit of a Doctoral Degree. She has been working with children after school with reading and mathematics. Ms. Ty started a non-profit organization, The MOST-providing performing arts lessons to the young people of our great county at low cost to families. The students of The MOST have performed all over the county including the Harlem Renaissance Festival. Seeing the potential in these students and embracing her passion for writing music, choreographing dances, and directing plays, Ms. Ty created SNT Young Actors Company. These talented young people also perform all over the county in venues such as The Black Family Reunion and Bowie State University. Many of the young people of SNT can be seen on film and television (Step Up 2, Law and Order, Nickelodeon, etc). Children are Ms. Ty's focus and she wants to continue to help make their dreams come true because they are the world’s MOST valuable resource and should be cherished. Ms. Ty continues to perform at various venues such as The African American History Festival, The Black Family Reunion, and The Bluebird Jazz Festival. Access the Experience is her follow up project into which she has poured her heart and soul. She hopes that everyone will find something on the CD to enjoy.

Tiff the Teacher

Project Supervisor, Access the Experience & The Rock Stars of Education

Ms. Tiff graduated from Eastern Michigan University with her degree in Elementary Education and Dance. Ms. Tiff has choreographed and performed in countless dances concerts, theater productions, and other special events. She choreographed for Second City Theater productions in Detroit MI. and helped establish SODA, School of Dance Accuracy located in Southfield MI. Ms. Tiff successfully established Shekinah a large dance company that was based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and consisted of 25 dancers. While establishing her own dance troop, she taught dance seminars, workshops and helped establish other dance companies. Recently she preformed in Celebrate the Process at the Greenburg’s Theater located in Washington D.C. Currently she teaches modern dance at DC Dance Collective in Washington D. C. Her class has been featured in Professional in the City. Ms. Tiff has been dancing and writing song for over 15 years. She began to use her artistic talent in her classroom. She started writing song and putting dance into her daily class routine to help her students learn and remember core educational concepts. Her student’s academic success was extremely successful and they were excited about learning. Joining forces with Ms. Ty who had the same vision of blending music and academics together has turn into the musical creation of Access The Experience.
